Barbie Through History of Art

Barbie celebrated her fiftieth birthday in 2009 and that inspired the French artist, Jocelyne Grivaud to create a project named “Barbie ma Muse” where Jocelyne recreated some of the most famous works of art with Barbie. This beautiful plastic doll with the most unrealistic body measures often gets bad rap, and tattoo Barbie just made it worse. Well, we decided to present her with more class. Here’s how some of the greatest master pieces from the history of art and some works of modern art and pop culture would look like if the muse was Barbie, instead of some ordinary woman.

Girl With a Pearl Earring (1665), considered a Vermeer masterpiece looks even better with Barbie in it.

I hope you’ve enjoyed in this short tour in which we revisited some of the greatest and most famous master pieces from history of art and modern and pop culture with Barbie in star role. It made me realize how ridiculously unrealistic proportions this plastic icon has, and I have to admit, she doesn’t look so attractive any more. Real women are much more beautiful and sensual.
